RISD WINTERSESSION 2019: ILLUSTRATION
GOLDEN YEAR OF THE PIG // 2019 // 7"x10.5" // Acrylic paint
This postcard design was created for the year of 2019, the year of the pig. I researched the symbolic representations of the pig in various cultures as well as other elements such as color and characteristics in order to create this illustration.
55 EGGS // 2019 // Mixed media
For this assignment, I created 55 different representations of an egg through both traditional and digital media. It was an interesting challenge to force myself to think about a singular object in so many different ways, and it pushed me to analyze the subject from different perspectives.
THE UPSIDE DOWN // 2019 // Digital
I created this illustration to accompany an editorial about the treasure that people have found while renovating or excavating their homes. I aimed to portray the incredible connection between the present and the past that comes into play in these situations by illustrating the two separate yet linked worlds.
언니 // 2019 // 6.5"x8" // Watercolor
For my last assignment for this class, I wanted to create a gift for my older sister. I decided to illustrate the very first memory that I can remember - my sister excitedly picking me up after school and embracing me. I used light washes of watercolor to create an ethereal, faded feel for the memory.
ALICE'S FALL // 2019 // Digital
I was challenged to design a book cover and a pattern for the book jacket using only three colors, which forced me to consider design in a different way and think critically in order to work with this limitation . Through this project I learned about the power of negative space and color selection.
